Geography
At Roydon Primary Academy, we believe that studying geography helps shape informed, responsible global citizens. Through geography, pupils gain a deeper understanding of how people, places, and environments are interconnected - locally, nationally, and globally.
Our curriculum helps children explore the world through the lenses of location, place, movement, region, and human-environment interaction. These core concepts give pupils the tools to make sense of a rapidly changing world and the challenges we face together.
By studying geography, pupils learn about the interdependence of communities, cultures, and ecosystems, developing both knowledge and empathy. They begin to see their place in the world, not just as observers, but as participants with the power to make a difference.
In line with our ROOTS Values (Respect - caring for the world around us), geography inspires curiosity, deepens understanding, and empowers pupils to think critically about the planet and their role in protecting its future.
Geography is taught in three annual modules in years 1 to 6. In EYFS, Geography is taught through story-telling, carpet time, and immersive play.
