Science
At Roydon Primary Academy, we believe that science is vital in helping children make sense of the world around them. Children are naturally curious, and our science curriculum is designed to nurture and extend this curiosity, encouraging pupils to ask meaningful questions and develop the skills and knowledge they need to investigate and answer them.
Through engaging, hands-on learning and exploration, we aim to inspire awe and wonder, while laying strong foundations for future learning in science and beyond.
Our science curriculum ensures that all pupils:
- Develop secure scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding across the core disciplines of biology, chemistry, and physics, providing a strong base for further learning.
- Learn to think and work like scientists, using a range of scientific enquiry methods to explore ideas, test hypotheses, and draw conclusions about the natural and physical world.
- Understand the relevance of science to their lives, both now and in the future, by exploring real-world applications, technological advances, and global challenges.
- Become scientifically literate individuals, able to use scientific vocabulary confidently, evaluate evidence critically, and contribute thoughtfully to discussions and debates: social, environmental, political, and economic.
At Roydon, science is not just a subject; it is a powerful way of thinking and reasoning. We are committed to helping every pupil develop a deep understanding of the world through science, preparing them to become informed, responsible citizens in an ever-changing, scientific and technological world.
