Home Learning

We are currently using Class Dojo to post daily activities for Maths, English and foundation topics. Every post which is uploaded will receive some feedback from a member of staff. This work mirrors what is being offered in school for the year groups that have returned.

Members of staff will also upload whole school tasks around coding, music, PE and PSHE as well as Mr Clark’s Daily Dojo Challenge.

Reception class have their own website which is updated daily with three videos around phonics and maths. These are created by Mr Vullo. The website can be accessed here:

https://mrvullo742939249.wordpress.com/please-start-here-a-guide-to-using-this-website/

This page gives you a range of further activities to help you support your children at home whilst the school has a partial closure.

We are also posting weekly celebration assemblies, TT Rockstar assemblies, sport assemblies and achievement assemblies. All certificates from these are posted to the children's portfolios or physiclaly posted.

If you are experiencing any issues with Class Dojo or the learning at home please feel free to contact the school for support.

Maths

We use White Rose Maths Hub for our maths curriculum. They have announced that they will set up resources for teachers to set work for pupils who are not able to go to school, from next week. Here is the website: https://whiterosemaths.com/

Pupils also all have a log in for Times Table Rockstars. Battles will continue and certificates will be awarded by Mr Girvan on a weekly basis.

There are daily battles with staff at 11:30am.

Reading

There are also online story time sessions, including the following:

Astronauts reading stories from space.

https://storytimefromspace.com/library/

The author Oliver Jeffers will read one of his stories and talk about some of the things that went into making it; it will be added to his website.

https://www.oliverjeffers.com/

This year's Summer Reading Challenge will also be online and has the theme 'The Silly Squad'. Details can be found at sillysquad.org.uk. There is also a pack at the bottom of this page containing all the deatails.

As a school we will be recording staff members reading stories and will be posting these regularly. Many of the class texts will continue.

Additional Resources:

Twinkl.co.uk have kindly produced free  home learning packs for children in self-isolation or in the event of a school closure. These can be accessed here: https://www.twinkl.co.uk/search?term=school+closure Go to the website and then click on the appropriate year group.

Phonics Play is another website that has announced that all of their games and resources are currently free. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/ It will be great for home learning for pupils in Reception and Year 1 in particular, because the children always love the games and they would be practising reading real and alien words.

Kids Classroom Secrets have also announced free access to their online learning activities: https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/home-online-learning/

The children's welfare must always be a priority. If you are experiencing issues please contact the school. None of the tasks we set are compulsory at this time, however we would love to see the children working at home. Daily reading is a must.

Please encourage the children to upload videos of them explaining their processes and methods to encourage them to talk.

We as a school, as here to help. Please use dojo or the school office for any enquiries.
